I pray that you have received Christ as Lord, and have asked our Lord and King Jesus Christ to be King of your life. If you have prayed to your Heavenly Father God, declaring that you “believe His Son Jesus died for your sins and rose from the dead,” then there is an exciting journey that awaits you. You have now become a child of God.
Did you know that, ultimately, this means you will become royalty yourself?
Remember, your Father in Heaven is the King of Glory.
Now that you have become a child of God, you are a citizen of His heavenly Kingdom—even now.
Ephesians 2:19 – So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God,
Colossians 1:13 – He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son,
Jesus is our King, and He wants His Spirit to live within you. When God’s Holy Spirit lives within you, you will be empowered to walk on this earth as Jesus did. You will be strengthened to grow in holiness and will be led to mature in the faith. Moreover, God will begin to use you for His work on this earth. To receive the gifts of the Spirit and His indwelling, one simply has to ask for it—it is that simple.
Luke 11:13 – “If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him.”
Know this: if you have been born again through God’s Spirit, your citizenship is now in Heaven. We were first born into the domain of darkness—this world. At that time, our citizenship was solely on earth. But now, we have been born again. When one is born, he or she has citizenship in the country they were born into. For example, if I am a Ghanaian, then it means I was born in Ghana, with citizenship in Ghana.
Does this not also apply with Christ? For the one who is born in Christ now has heavenly citizenship in the domain of Christ—His Kingdom.
Again and again, we were all born into the domain of darkness (ruled by the devil and his angels) by default, but thanks be to God, we have been born again. Now, our heritage is in Heaven. Now, our citizenship is in Heaven.
Philippians 3:20 – But our citizenship is in Heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Now, our government is in Heaven. Now, our home is in Heaven, for that is where we are now from by birth.
All who are born of Heaven were chosen by the King—for kings choose who will be citizens of their governments. In a democracy, the people choose the president. However, in a Kingdom form of rule, the King chooses who will become a citizen. This is why King Jesus said,
“You didn’t choose Me, but I chose you.” — John 15:16
Consequently, all who were chosen by Christ were led to accept His cross and resurrection, as Jesus said:
John 6:44 – No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day.
Now, as a child of God and as a citizen of His Kingdom, there is work for you to do on earth. The Spirit of God will continue to grow in you and use you to represent Him as an ambassador of His Kingdom in this world. So, there is much to be excited about—both in this life and the next.
For the day will come when the King returns in the Messianic era—the 1,000-year reign on earth. At that time, all who are citizens of the Kingdom now will rule with the King, bearing crowns along with Him. What a glorious day it will be when you rule alongside your Savior forever.
Revelation 2:26
Remember these things, that there is much for you to look forward to.
Your labour in Christ will never be in vain. And even with that, Paul said in:
Romans 8:18 – For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
To you and me, from Jesus…
We shall sit on Jesus’ throne—let that sink in.
Revelation 3:21 – To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with Me on My throne, just as I was victorious and sat down with My Father on His throne.
