Everything in this universe is subject to someone. The one below must submit to the one at the top, and also, there can only be one head in every sphere of life.
To avoid confusion, the subordinate must submit to the superior. There is always confusion when the subordinate doesn’t respect or obey the superior. God, who made His universe, made sure everything is put in its rightful place and everyone is put in their rightful position. He has assigned power and authority to each one according to His will and has given a rule on who should submit to the other, even though every creature must submit to God.
Everyone has a role that they play on this earth. We are all not equal.
We have different capabilities. Each one has a head, and each one could also be a head over someone or subordinate to a superior—it goes on like a cycle.
You remember when Angel Gabriel was delivering a message to Daniel and was withstood by the prince of Persia for 21 solid days. Michael, who is one of the chief princes, was sent to deliver him. Instead of God sending an angel of lower rank, He sent a Chief Prince who is higher than the prince of Persia. While Gabriel lasted 21 days, within a short whiel Michael defeated the prince of Persia. A prince is subject to a Chief Prince. There is an order of power, it is just like in the Military.
Daniel 10:13 – But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.
Before God subjected everything to Jesus, His position here on earth before His death was one that is a little below the angels.
Hebrews 2:9 – But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor…
It is because He was made a little lower than the angels that the angels were able to minister to Him, for who are angels to minister to the one in whom all things were made and the firstborn over all creation?
Matthew 4:11 – Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.
Everything that God made has its rightful place as assigned by God. The value of one does not decrease when they serve someone above or below them. Each subordinate is to serve its superior regardless of their being. The day a subordinate fails to humble themselves and serve, there is chaos. The day a subordinate wants to take the place of their superior, there is chaos. To avoid disorder, God has assigned each being their role and power and who they are to serve.
There was no sin in the entire universe until one day Lucifer wanted to be like God—a creature who wanted to be above his Creator. Is that even possible? Lucifer, with all his power and wisdom, forgot his place in the universe—that apart from God, each one must humble themselves to God regardless of the power bestowed on them. So when the devil failed to recognize his place and obey His Superior, God Almighty, there was chaos. The devil was the first to resist authority or control from God. This is what led to the rebellion, and he was thrown to the earth. For if you fail to recognize your place or position, that place or position will be taken away from you.
Isaiah 14:12-13 – How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
Regardless of the power and authority God has given, you have to humble yourself and recognize your place.
1 Corinthians 14:33 – For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace.
Author means “the person who originated or gave existence to anything” and whose authorship determines responsibility for what was created. There is a perfect order in God’s kingdom, and God didn’t even originate confusion or disorder. For a God who determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name,
Psalm 147:4 – How can that God be a God of disorder?
The devil originated confusion when he rebelled against God and wanted to occupy God’s position. It was the same confusion he brought to the Garden of Eden with the same headline: You will be like God.
Genesis 3:4-5 – And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods.
For he is the author of confusion, and through that, man lost his original abode. Everything came to a mess. For if you fail to recognize your place in God’s kingdom, that place will be taken away from you. For the kingdom is peace and joy; not the slightest amount of disorder or confusion exists in it.
Between a child and their parents, this is the order God decreed. For there to be peace, there must be order, and God is a God of peace, so He has given us the order in which we are supposed to live with one another to avoid confusion or rebellious attitudes.
Ephesians 6:1-2 – Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise.
Then, in return, this is what fathers are supposed to do—nurture them in the Lord. If the child doesn’t obey, the father cannot do this, and if the father too is not in Christ, he cannot nurture them in Christ. For there to be peace, both must work. Each must do their part; a deviation from this will not yield anything good. The devil will do everything for this not to work just by breaking the cycle—then you start seeing vagabonds on the street.
Ephesians 6:4 – And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
This is the order of authority between the child and the parents—emphasis on for this is right. For any other doctrine that teaches otherwise is wrong and not from God but the devil himself.
Ephesians 6:1-2 – Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise.
The order is to obey and honour them. Do the opposite, and you bring curses on yourself. Do the opposite, and you will have no peace on this earth.
In return, fathers are supposed to do this. When it comes to God, everything of Him is perfect and in its right order.
Ephesians 6:4 – And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
If only every father is doing this, and each child is obeying—you will see the kind of peace at home.
This is the order between a servant and a master. God has made provisions for every form of relation on this earth so that the superior will know how to treat the subordinate and vice versa. Any order that contradicts this is not of God.
Ephesians 6:5 – Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ.
In return, this is what is expected of masters:
Ephesians 6:9 – And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.
Imagine the kind of society we will have if everyone is following this.
Have you noticed the order? The one below must obey the one above regardless of your status.
Children must obey.
Servants must obey.
You see, everything about God is in order. He is a God of peace and not confusion. So between every soul on this earth and their government, this is the order:
Romans 13:1-2 – Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.
Therefore, whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves.
Between every soul and their government, God expects us to obey them and do every good work required from us. There is order everywhere…
Titus 3:1-2 – Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work, to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men.
1 Peter 2:13-14 – Therefore submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake, whether to the king as supreme, or to governors…
This is the order between a husband and a wife. The wife must submit to the husband while the husband, in return, loves the wife. There is a perfect order in God’s kingdom. Anything that contradicts this order is not from God but from the devil, to bring rebellion and division. Order really matters to God; that’s why He made it. The family system will be destabilized if the wife wants to take the place of the husband or be equal to the husband. In the end, it is not about equality but the orderly design of God. Being in a subordinate position does not reduce your worth or importance. Every role matters in God’s divine order, and value is not determined by rank, but by obedience, humility, and purpose.
Ephesians 5:22-23 – Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it.
If the child obeys the father, they obey God because He is the Father of all fathers.
If the servant obeys the master, that servant in essence obeys God because He is the master of all masters.
If the people obey their king, it is God that they obey, who is the King of Kings.
If the wife submits to the husband, it is God they have submitted to.
And when the husband loves the wife, it is God they have loved.
We do all this in the Lord and for the Lord, for our obedience, service, submission, and love all go to Him.
1 Corinthians 14:33 – For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace…
For the sake of peace, He has made provisions for us on how we should relate with each other, no matter where we find ourselves. As such, everything must be done decently and in order.
Have you ever seen the moon claiming equality with the sun, or the sun proving its worth to the moon? They all recognize and know their place. And so must you. You must submit to divine order; anything else is rebellion against God.
